Yes it is. To initiate all hardware components on your system takes constant time that does not vary even if you improve your storage devices. Now I read the doc but SATA is still slow to provide that "performance" you can see above.
This fastened video was linked from an eBay auction and I assume that is a usual marketing bullshit to get all laymen to buy one.

2. DDR2 will be not any faster since it is a slow PCI device and the I/O is still a lot slower than raw ram access (unless they'll release DDR2 one on PCI-E). The only thing is faster here the block I/O and the random access due to the lack of head-movement-delay.
3. Not as reliable as HDDs or SSDs
