I'm a Christian and I don't have a problem with people spreading the gospel but don't do it with good Rock n Roll tunes, please. Make music like Creed if you want to preach.

Eric Clapton was a rich white kid but playing Blues triggered some dormant dark thoughts from his childhood and the fact that he was abandoned by his mum. It had him alone in his huge mansion shooting up in a corner of a room and selling his gear.
Everybody from Van Gogh to Beethoven to Mike Bloomfield went thru it. It's not nice though to watch.
But he's not the ... By: mojoelem. on 18 Aug 07, 04:51:27 But he's not the only one. Jimi sold some of his gear for drugs.. so did Clapton back in 1970 for his 200 pound a day heroin habit. I believe even Charlie Parker and Art Pepper did too.
Creativity opens the demons abyss. It's not a nice thing to watch i will grant you that but hopefully Gales will recover.
Yes, i agree with ... By: mojoelem. on 18 Aug 07, 04:40:11 Yes, i agree with you Tim. I actually met Hendrix once back in London, 1967 in a music store (Sound City). I saw him live on three occasions. Lovely guy..very gracious.
But every creative musician/artist has to fight personal demons. Creativity brings them to the surface. Let's pray Eric gets to grips with his.

Even after seeing Henry Garza, Zakk Wylde, John Mayer, and Buckethead live since that time, they in my mind aren't on his level... Now, he is singing better than ever, and his playing G'man, is off the charts.
So I went, and that ... By: tjmurray78. on 04 Jun 07, 12:54:36 So I went, and that was he was going through tough times. Even then, it was astounding!!! I never seen anything like that live.. Ever!!! I found audio of him playing Little Wing that night, and I am trying to figure out how to post it on youtube. It was just remarkable. After that I went and brought all of his cd's. Didn't realize at the time when I got them that his first 2 came out when he was just 15 and 16...Damn!!!
After Jimi I got ... By: tjmurray78. on 04 Jun 07, 12:43:14 After Jimi I got into different players(Stevie Ray, Ernie Isley, Prince, etc.), but still nobody got me bent out of shape like Jimi did. That was until 5 years ago, when my girlfriend at the time invited me to see her old high school classmate that I never heard of, Eric Gales, downtown in Memphis. I was like who?!?! She said that he was like the next Jimi, and I got pissed at her. I said nobody is the next Jimi, so don't even say that. She was like, just come with me to see him.
Well Jimi is my ... By: tjmurray78. on 04 Jun 07, 12:31:41 Well Jimi is my favorite musician and guitarist ever. Lol, I have the tattoo of him to prove it. I was 19(never heard of Jimi Hendrix), and I was sleep, but my tv was on. There was a documentary of him on, and footage of him playing "Machine Gun" woke me up, and messed me up. I was like damn who is that... After that, I went Jimi crazy. Got into the guitar and rock 'n roll.

By: gtrfanman. on 04 Jun 07, 06:40:49 tjm78,I can tell that you have mad love for Eric(so do I) Just I do for Jimi,He's my favorite.(I guess you must play guitar also.)To me,their musicianship and what they've both accomplshed, speaks louder than any of the negitive comments that some people make.I'm sure Eric's gonna get it together and continue kickin ass as usual.I'm also lookin forward to seein more videos,I've enjoyed all that I've seen, Eric is amazing WHEW !!!!!!!!(thanks bro)

Yea g'man you are ... By: tjmurray78. on 04 Jun 07, 04:40:28 Yea g'man you are right, and that is why I didn't respond to him anymore. My girl kind of put me in my place. She told me the same thing you said basically. That this is a forum and people have opinions, and not to be so immature. But this man is like my favorite musician, so I got pissed. You have people out there that don't want him to make it. Bringing up his past like he is some junkie on the corner begging for a quarter... I'll have some more footage for you in July...

I love that les paul I want one.
By: Lesia44. on 29 Nov 08, 17:52:41
He's not playing the blues, just something that sounds like it. He's a wonderfully gifted copycat. And, in that sense, I do enjoy it for what it is - I have all his albums. But it ain't the real thing.
By: Ducatman1960. on 29 Nov 08, 17:45:58
Lesia34....I suppose you want him to play out of tune and time....then he'd be "authentic"? Joe's really a rock guitarist who delves into the blues realm. His stongest influences are obviously Cream-era Clapton, Gibbons, Page etc...not Muddy Waters and Son House. Just enjoy him for what he is instead of worrying about being "true to the masters".
By: krankank. on 28 Nov 08, 19:09:56
That's one badass sound he's getting from the 900 mixed with the silver jubilee.
By: Lesia44. on 28 Nov 08, 16:37:38
A fantastically well executed facsimile of the blues. Dazzling, but ultimately empty.
By: GoodGawd. on 27 Nov 08, 14:51:42

is that blues rock? its very good i was there!
By: gold2040. on 14 Nov 08, 14:56:54
Well seeing as he opened for B.B King aged 12 I can really see how he fails so badly. i'm sure you could give him a run for his money considering there are "zillions"
By: jspartacus. on 14 Nov 08, 14:31:33
I hope you take this the wrong way: you're an idiot. Bonamassa is a ripoff artist, and you're so dense you can't figure it out. There are a zillion like him, and when there are that many out there, none of them are special or stand out at all. Now that someone has spelled it out for you, go listen to some real innovative guitarists.
By: gold2040. on 14 Nov 08, 11:12:59
now don't take this the wrong way dude, but your full of SHIT this guy obviously has a talent and he has nice/sound rhythm, do you even play guitar? I'd like to see you "make it" with something
By: jspartacus. on 14 Nov 08, 03:05:42
Figures that I'm talking to snot nosed 14 year old who thinks he knows something. You obviously missed the '80s, and just talk shit because you have nothing better to do.
By: jspartacus. on 14 Nov 08, 03:04:38
You don't know SHIT, especially if you think Hendrix was the end of the line. But go ahead with your moronic narrow view. The rest of us will listen to real guitarists who are actually paving the way to the future, and not THIS crap.
By: zachenstein. on 12 Nov 08, 04:10:33
Is that the blues? Jesus Christ............
By: cjvh5150. on 11 Nov 08, 16:23:39
Nothing to advance the art of the guitar? what the fook does that mean? Maybe you should go back to the factory and continue your pumas views.
By: cjvh5150. on 11 Nov 08, 16:21:29
then you had better disregard all guitarist after Jimi Because they all emulate each other. Check him out live then you can talk
By: shkali1. on 08 Nov 08, 00:26:45
since they barely have the same style, that would be a near impossible question to answer
By: Slashfan90210. on 07 Nov 08, 21:42:08
I met him today. Awesome bloke. He also did an acoustic set which was awesome too.
