Most people considered them a gimmick along with other bands like Devo. I think it's because they had a unique sound with crazy lyrics and videos. It was an interesting time in music with disco ending and mainstream rock getting boring. This band was something different and musically better than what most people gave them credit for.

Just wanted to let everyone know and hopefully this will get to the band "B'52's" that Miley Cyrus (or more realistically, her writing team) have completely ripped off the music and melody of the song "Rock Lobster". Her song "Fly on The Wall" is an obvious rip off and I think "B'52's" should take legal action. Check it out.

The B52s were trailblazers. They developed and kept true to their sound. Who else can sing about a spoon and make it kitchy and danceable? They are a great band and if they arent in the Hall Of fame they should be.
