you're wrong there champ. if you've read 'pigs might fly' by mark blake, you'd know that dave gilmour made sure syd got his royalties, and the band financially & emotionally supported him. syd was beyond anybody's help

it's easy to say what was the right thing to do now. please don't criticize. think of the good memories and great feelings syd has given us all. He suffered so that we would be better-off. Love him, don't hate the past. "Won't you miss me, wouldn't you miss me at all?" - Syd RIP

not to mention they made sure he got his money. he left something like 2 million pounds or whatever the currency is..most of which came from floyd royalties.

They tried all they could to help him, but nothing worked. They felt hopeless and frustrated towards their mentally ill friend. If there is nothing more they could have done, why criticize them for it?
By: AnonymousMongoloid. on 07 Nov 08, 04:23:11
The truth is they tried to help him. They talked to psychologists about his mental problems, but the doctors told the rest of the band he was incurable. No prescription drugs or therapy sessions could have helped that man.
By: Uncool4school. on 05 Nov 08, 03:21:31
They probably just didn't want to wait for him and felt apprehensive that his mental problems were effecting not only his life but theirs. So instead of being dear friends and getting him help they just left him.... It's so sad...

The great tragedy is that with the proper help Syd stood a good chance of becoming well again. Instead,as we all know, his backstabbing bandmates left him for dead and went on to make a fortune from writing crap songs about him.

Do you like my new Scarecrow video?

seriously, they really come out of the woodwork don't they? also, Syd started a new band after the Floyd, it was called Stars, they were together for a couple of gigs, then received a scathing review after one of Syd's many nervous breakdowns onstage, which after hearing about promptly left the group. David Gilmour produced Barrett's sophomore LP "Barrett", all the members of the Floyd grew up together and remained on very good terms with Barrett.

alright, i have to comment cuz ppl r saying some crazy shit about Syd and i want to clarify things: Syd did go insane, i could site multiply sources, but suffice to say, he would stop performing and stare blankly for long periods of time, ramble about nothing. david gilmour is not in a secret society, Syd did not write the Wish You Were Here LP, he sat in on the sessions for "Shine On you crazy diamond" which was about Syd. Roger plays many instruments, i've seen him tune them many times.

he DID NOT BECOME BRAIN DAMAGED he had already a mental conditions from birth get ur shit straight anyone wit a condition acid will only make it worst the human body is much too complex to generalize it the way ppl do im sure he was perfectly fine he just saw things better around him and instead of mooving on like most do he got stuck in the now which is a good way to meditate but if stuck on it too long can drive one mad trust me
By: Wowbagger86. on 19 Oct 08, 12:55:57
He became brain damaged after heavy acid use... I think this is a really early interview.
By: GreatestDane92. on 15 Oct 08, 03:23:33
doesn't sound crazy to me...
By: sleakitweasel. on 13 Oct 08, 20:25:51
My source: an interview that he gave to BUTTmonkey international, where he candidly admitted that he and his traitorous bandmates deserved to be coshed repeatedly by socks filled with billiard balls for dumping the only talent Pink Floyd ever had. He also admitted that 'The Wall' made him SQUIRM with embarrassment and stated that he was evr so terribly terribly sorry for being such a boring and tedious COCK. So.
By: theledzeppguy. on 13 Oct 08, 18:52:13
Amazingly, you are correct. Waters especially hated "The Wall" movie. The back cover of "The Final Cut" was supposed to have shown his distaste. He also said that Richard Wright used to tune Rogers bass guitars because Roger couldn't.

genius seems to be thought of as objective when in fact is a subjective judgement. my genius is your "good artist". was de kooning a genius or just an okay painter? if you see what i mean... etc, with carrots and light bulbs
By: BigT188. on 12 Oct 08, 09:38:34
the most overrated songwriter of our time. Because the guy was quite and talked about painting and had a bi-polar psyche, he got labeled as a 'genius'. good artist yes, but in no way a fucking genius.

U sound like a young fan, which I was, 2. But if U wanna spout the truth, U gotta know the truth: Syd ALWAYS wanted to be famous. He would complain to friends/bandmates about how surprised he was that Lennon & Hendrix were big and he wasn't. And also, he was not too wealthy when he passed: Syd lived a long time in a mental hospital and then almost totally blind by himself. Actually, he died quite miserably one would think. But yes, Voznow7, his influence has outlived many a thing.

syd wasnt a member of pink floyd if u r saying roger said that coz syd was in the group if im wrong please correct and ill apologise
By: semtex2you. on 07 Oct 08, 00:42:47
syd the schitzoid. a very smart man, indeed. and for sleakitweasel, mind showing me your source as to The Wall, in roger's eyes was tiger poo? cause i know better!
By: sleakitweasel. on 04 Oct 08, 18:23:55
Apparently, Roger Water admitted, years later, that he was a big COCK who couldn't even play bass guitar properly. He also hinted that 'The Wall' stank more than a pile of tiger poo. All true, all true.
By: sleakitweasel. on 04 Oct 08, 18:22:02
Absolutely! They were BUTTmonkey, the lot of them and they had the nerve to poop out a number of big stinkers for our listening 'pleasure'. Cheers. Meanwhile, Syd/Roger lives his life like the rest of us do: without the guilt suffered by the rest of the band who are subsequently diagnosed by medical psychiatrists as 'shit'.

moments of clarity arise in random chaos...that's the way he speaks
