He chose Mika instead of Mica because when he moved to UK, people pronounced his name in a bad way like Misha. He decided to put a K for his career to make things easy. But when he was a child, he wrote Mica. ;o) I think he doesn't like to be called Michael.

To answer nanabell500: Mika is just a stage name, yes. His real name is Mica (Michael) Holbrook Penniman. Mika is japanese for 'New Moon' but I'm not sure if he chose it for that reason ro if it's just a clever respelling of his nickname.
