Since when are Greeks brown? The fact that her mother was from Selanik doesn't mean she is Greek, Ataturk was also from Selanik and he wasn't a greek either. Turks do not only live in Turkey, if you did more research you'd know that there are 250 million Turks on this planet. A few centuries ago there were 3 million Turks living in the Balkans. Didem is a bellydancer with a good technique however, she is not a great dancer for the following reasons: 1 she moves like a robot 2 she does not seem to enjoy what she is doing 3 she is not gracefull 4 she does not dance to the music, she gives a demonstration wich is a totaly different thing In other words: she does not move me when she dances, her dance gives no joy. There was a bath culture in Europe for centuries but it was destroyed in most places because it was thought to promote prostitution. Some sort of bath culture did survive in Finland where baths are called saunas. Finnish saunas are different from turkish ones; they are way hotter. I have not seen many styles of Rom Dance, like I said before. It does not particularly interest me, just like American belly dancers do not interest you. This was a belly dance performance with some Rom at the end, so why does it matter? The people commenting here think she is a bad belly dancer, you are defending her by saying she is not trying to belly dance, saying she is doing Turkish Romani. Which therefore puts her performance under the category of "belly dance," thus making her fair game for belly dancers and belly dance enthusiasts to judge. I love belly dance, I love learning about belly dance and I do my best to learn as much as I can. Just because I am still learning does not mean I can not have opinions about other people's dancing. I know what "bedlah" means, and it is a word commonly used by belly dancers here to describe a belly dance costume regardless of the context it is used in the original Arabic. Also, I know it's a show, and of course it's not going to be done in a natural gypsy environment but that doesn't mean it HAS to be done in belly dance costume. What she did here is do some Turkish Romani towards the end of a belly dance performance which even included a drum solo.
