I run a korg radias, emx and a kaoss pad and I just ordered this. my buddy just bought a microX and I think this keyboard is going to compliment my rig niceley. I like the ease of it, compared to the radias. The radias is cool, but at some points, its too trance for my taste, not saying its bad, but you really have to dig into it to make it sound dirty as hell. Im excited for this synth, and the price is outstanding for what it will do.

I don't know man you see the older SH-32 kicked the K-Stations arse into a new dimention when it came to pads...and I am some one who at the time had a KS-rack, A-Station, Bass Station and a drum station. I have heard some pople say though the SH-201 is crap compared to the 32 though. Virus synths though bore me...who needs 10000 patches, takes the fun out of making original sounds. If you want to sound like every one else and cash in get a virus

How can anybody compare this to a virus, it's like putting a ford focus up against a ferrari. This is a bigginers synth with an sound engine taken from the Vsynth ? Saying that is better than a novation is pointless , Novation goes for a much more subtle sound and a lot of there cheaper synths are 'jack of all trades' well master of some. I bet a k series can do do pads that this can only dream of.

sh 201 is plastic. and useless absolutely. virus ti and nord lead 2x brings us psy-trance and other godblessed music, sh-201 only for pop or something like it (in this demo guy plays fucking rap-pop). crap. the only good synths by roland are tb303 and jp8000

The answer is simple: the JP-8000 does almost the same things, while sounding WAAAAAAAY better than the SH-201. I've owned the SH-201 for a couple of months, now I replaced it with the JP-8000 and believe me, it's another world :-) And think that even the JP-8000 it's not as warm and powerful like a real analog, but it's nicely close

You can't compare the Nord Lead to the SH-201. Pricewise it just isn't fair. The SH-201 has a fully programable arpegiator, sound is great. For that price, you can't beat that.

id compare it more to a nicer version of an alesis micron just because of the easily accessible sequencer & arp. i think with the NM you have to program your pattern phrases by mouse with a computer-i could be wrong. but the nord modular software gives you a practically infinite amount of modulation & effects if that's what you're into.. to me if you're going to go with that you might as well get a midi keyboard and a nice vst though (even though the clavia nord suond engine is the best)

Hey u r a good guitar player, but there's one thing i'd like to point out, when you emulate a certain instrument on the synth, don't play as if you were playing guitar, that is try to get the intonation of the particular instrument right then its more believable. The video doesn't do it justice. Sounds can be set up so the pedal controls volume or vibrato. Arpeggio sounds, harmony or transposition etc. There's almost nothing the Roland people haven't thought of and these things just keep getting better, but some of the sounds could definitely improve. I love the Fender Rhodes, the organs and the fretless bass sounds work well under the picked guitar chords. Guitar is the greatest instrument but the synth attachment has made it even more versatile.

If recording live guitar, vocals etc. are a first, dont use Reason. It's not an audio sequencer 'as such'. Programs like Cubase, Logic, ProTools, Sonar, Digital Performer etc are much better choices. Because these programs can also use PlugIns of various formats, even an old Cubase 5.1 on Win98se can do AMAZING stuff. A lot like the things in Reason actually. And since I began using SynthEdit to make VST plugins for Cubase, I'll never need something like Reason.

I know some people Who can make straight up 2pac beats with that, I recently made a new vid watch?v=TARxGpQF-MA Thor included, Reason recycle etc. leave a comment if u think its nice(or crap)

Look at Synth1. 6,000 presets are available for it, it's free, the presets are free, and I've yet to hear a single sound from the fanboys' 'precious' Thor that sounds any better than Synth1, and Synth1 is four years old or something like that, and it's FREE. Use ANYTHING as long as it supports VSTs - if you don't, you will regret it.

How the tool with many fx processors, huge routing possiblities and 6 synthesis methods can be shitty? If you really need other synth methods, just rewire it. Or use raw osc sounds in NN19 and connect the outputs to Thor. Factory soundbank and it's most synth presets is bad indeed. You really suck at synth programming isn't it? You cannot do something in Reason and then whining that it's sucks, then going to your precious Ableton and use presets.

Only one question, when using the sampler. how do you make it trigger the loop straight away rather than playin the start of the sample first. I think it's very difficult to hear Rudess and then wish to hear any other, except for the ones who were before him (and i'm now talking about Keith Emerson and Patrick Moraz, for instance). Anyway, I think Rudess and Sherinian play two different genres, though. While Sherinian is a Progressive metal player, Rudess belongs to a more Progressive-pure school. Both styles are admirable and so in deciding which one you like most it will depend on which style you prefer.Personally, i'd go for Jordan.

Even fewer even have this talent level. and even fewer than that have this talent and can even show it, because when playing songs, no band or person within is playing to their greatest potential. you have to play within the song, so every musician (when playing a song) really isn't playing to even their best potential. There's always something you're not seeing. So With DT, there's even more talent than what you're seeing.
