What wonderful people these are! Apart from the fact that they are two of the most eminent scientists in history, they are both humble, modest gentlemen. One sentence from either of these is worth a lifetime of ignorant posturing by zardoz, warriorprince and their ilk.

Why is it that these scientific clips invariably attract some religious wingnut(like warriorprince ) sounding off about how god did it all or how evolution hasn't been proved yet! These faith-heads should realize that they're not going to convert anyone with a scientific world view; religion and fairy tales are for children, science is for mental adults.

I would like to apologise about my unfair comments in regard to 'american citizens' and their apparent 'devolution' - Most unfair of me. My only excuse is that I was feeling a little chuffed at the time, after reading a poll stating that 50 % still believe the the world is only 6000 years old. Something like Australians come from Austria !?

But you didn't specify 'animal', you said evolution ath the DNA level. OK. Let's go up a step - fruit flies! They have been investigated in labs for over a 100 years. They adapt to a new environment thru survival of the fittest - as Darwin suggested.

When I hear enlightened views like these, well expressed and respectfully exchanged, I am filled with hope for the continued surivival for our species in this fragile world. Thanks for the post and good wishes to everyone in our small human family. We may yet understand how amazing it is that we have evolved to this state of consciousness and order our affairs and our planet so that each of us is cherished and our survival ensured.
