I have to agree with some of the comments here...as some one who had the pleasure of growing up through the halcyon days of the late 70s SLF were the best "proper" punk band. The Pistols might have been the most important as they kicked the whole thing off, the Clash might have had the "intellectuals" getting excited about the art of their music and the political message but in terms of spirit and energy SLF were the best.

They are from Belfast. What the rest of the world forgets, or doesn't realise, is there was nothing for people to to in Belfast at night in the 70's. The town shut down after 6pm, due to the problem of recurrent car bombings. The only people you would see in Belfast city centre were, police, Army and punks going to the Pound club, where SLF and other local punk bands would play.

Saw Jake perform an acoustic version of this awesome song accompanied by Pauline Black, JJ Burnel and Steve Diggle (I think?) on the 'Three Men and Black' mini tour of small venues a while back. 25+ years on, grey haired and wearing a cardigan (I shit you not!) Jake snarled and spat his way through the song with the same passion and fury as he did in the glory days of SLF we see here. For an all too brief 3 minutes or so I was nineteen again... truly amazing. Hanx!
