http://live.pirillo. com - DreamScene on Vista allows you to run a video as a wallpaper. Unfortunately, I can't use it. Vista claims my monitors are too big. That's ok, I'm not giving them up. I did, however, discover a very cool trick awhile back to run a screen saver behind my active windows.

yes but they aren't requiring in a government mandate that all Americans by a certain time period completely convert to using these "Energy efficient" means of electricity.

His house is beside the point. Keep in mind we are a democratic republic. He is not up there for his benefit. He is a representative of his constituents. So you can't point fingers and laugh all you want, but he is representing someone. I respect that, I suggest you do too. He's certainly doing a good job of it.

we happen to use these bulbs in our house and they have helped in lowering our electric bill, but using them has been our choice. i vehemently object to being told by the government what kind of bulb i can or cannot use in my house. that, i believe, was the point mr. poe was making when he brought out his copy of the constitution. this is ridiculous legislation.

The National Republican Party is "stuck in the "Political Elevator". The Republicans are going nowhere. Hey, Where is Dan Qualye? Sarah Palin is hillariously funny.

I cannot get one of those mercury thermometers to accurately take my child's temperature (under her arm of course)(they are banned too?), but it is okay to have a house full of mercury light bulbs. Flourescent light is bad for your eyesight, bad for your skin, and bad for your well being.

Better use LEDs, then.

Wonder why they are all made in China. Can't Americans make light bulbs.
By: mgc1p3rzq. on 18 Nov 08, 06:13:16
This man is a very good speeker. But! Coal takes too long to regenerate, gas/oil is running out. Yes, this light bulb is progress for the energy crisis but new technology such as hybird cars, wind farms, solar power, tide currents, and biofuel will complement powersaving light bulbs.

Wake up people!!!!!!!This and global warming are false facades hiding the liberal/socialist/communist governments REAL intentions!! It has nothing to with saving energy! It has EVERYTHING to do with wanting to CONTROL and DICTATE your life! Just try getting your freedoms back once they are taken away! It will NEVER happen! That is exactly what Obama and Congress will do! Just wait!

Electricity companies in the UK have been sending all their customers free CFL energy saving light bulbs that are made in China where workers are enslaved and tortured. These CFL light bulbs break very easily, and come with no warnings at all about the deadly toxic waste inside them. I know several people who have had toxic waste leak from these CFL bulbs in their homes without them even being aware of the danger. Almost everyone disposes of them openly along with ordinary household waste.

The 100-watt equivalent CFLs at Walgreens are $14.99. You can get them cheaper at lower wattages. I have yet to see one for less than $7.00

If your claims are ture, then why are they making it such a big deal to clean up??? I know my thermometer has "LIQUID" mercury. Perhaps the mercury in these bulbs is gas, or in more toxic form. Life is terminal regardless of what type of light bulbs you use. However, extending life & the quality of life is important to most of us, so why expose ourselves needlessly to toxic matter. Sure it's all over, but you don't vacation on a landfill, or at a toxic waste dump, why live in one every day ;-D
By: zipzangzoop. on 11 Nov 08, 15:15:26
This is silly. There are SOOOO many products that contain mercury its not even funny. You know, when you get your flu shot this year make sure its the NON mercury containing type. Mercury is in the dirt also, I guess the EPA should clean up my backyard too!!!
By: zipzangzoop. on 11 Nov 08, 15:13:34
Why are you buying CFL's at $15 each? I just paid $1.26 for a CFL (bought in a pack of 6,WAY LESS).
By: ManifestSilver. on 10 Nov 08, 12:45:36
If this freaks you out, guys, you should do a quick google search on the dangers of flouride. Yes, That stuff that is in over 90% of USA's public water supply. FlourideAlert [dot] com
By: jecwhiz. on 07 Nov 08, 12:16:00
How about CFL fires? There has been some reports due to poor quality of the CFL and many small circuit board parts being stuffed into the bottom plastic casing overheating, and sometimes catches fire and has caused damages. You can google "impact CFL fires" and look at the first link and see frightening pictures of the bulbs that caught fire or smoked!

EARL, Name calling is unnecessary & discredits anything you could add to the debate. Changing a bulb is NOT brain surgery; but "Smarts" have nothing to do with having "accidents." Most people have those. Which are atypical results of actions. If you've never dropped a bulb, chances are you aren't the one changing them. You've probably never fumbled a football either; can't do that Bench Warming! Anyone can drop a beer, stumble on the sidewalk... Breakage can be due to defects. That's the point!
