i couldn't figure it out at first, but then the whole program was a head mash at first because i didn't know where to start so i just clicked the first buttons that came naturally to me new project and first button which was windows application. i might have missed you say where to start button if you didn't say you should have mentioned start new project and console application. i know i guess it goes without saying, but im extremely new to this and didn't think. anyway got it working.great vid

does the main method have to be of type int? i see you returned the int "0". can you not have a main method that doesnt return anything in c++? (im a java guy lol)

for hl-2 mods you have to use Visual C++ 2005 to compile the source code and you should know some programing before you try that.
