SNES Super Metroid Introduction
Posted by: ShiryuGL
Video duration: 277 seconds
Global video hits: 18500
Simply put, one of the best videogames ever made. How nostalgic I get when I hear those first few lines of speech... I bought this game the day it came out in Portugal, and I was simply hooked. If there ever was a prize for "Perfect Videogame", Super Metroid for the Super Nintendo would be in the top 10 of such list. Enjoy the intro...

I was reading through your comments and noticed how some people don't know the difference between TAS and what speed-runs are. Whats more embarrassing are the younger crowd who have no clue Samus is a women not a robot or man. I grew up with Atari and NES. I have played almost every classic to date. Seriously kids, stick with HALO...those who leave those sorry comments are the ones who have no idea...games like these paved the way to games like that tiresome HALO. Peace i'm out.

I'm sure back in the day I could come close to that, my nes skills are bad now cause I got one of those "super nintendos" back in like '92 and never looked back

At the time of its creation it was the fastest TAS. Now there're faster ones. The password is for changing the graphics of the player's sprite. How about visiting that link in the video description and teaching yourself the difference between "speedrun" and "tool-assisted speedrun"?

That's one of the most bogus videos I've seen taking credit for teh "fastest time." If you notice there's a cut scene with a password alread put in. How lame... a disgrace to Metroid fans

What the hell did I just see? I blinked my eyes and it was over. Seriously though, you exploited like every bug in the game to do that... Still insane though.

By: creaothceann. on 15 Nov 08, 16:15:29
This is Zoizite's TAS, not mine. ;) See tasvideos[dot]org for more.

creaothceann: This game used to take me HOURS to finish (especially the first time I played it, since you really have no clue where to go or what to do the first time through...it's pretty much hit and miss). I realize you used savestates to make it look easy, but in reality there is NO WAY anyone could whiz through this game like that... ESPECIALLY that part near the end (starting at 7:15) with the brain/jellyfish thingies that suck away your life. Cool vid though!

TAS gameplay shouldn't be compared with human gameplay.

your pissing me off you make me look like a fuckin baby when i play this game
By: creaothceann. on 08 Nov 08, 08:14:07
It's frame-by-frame optimized.
By: creaothceann. on 08 Nov 08, 08:11:08
This TAS was done by Zoizite, not me. TAS means "tool-assisted speedrun", meaning that the TAS author can use anything (except built-in cheats and GG/PAR codes) to create a button sequence that completes the game. So if Samus would've died, you'd have seen the death animation. I uploaded this video before I knew how to safely convert 60-fps videos to 30-fps videos. Youtube simply removed every 2nd frame, so certain effects by the game (elevator, being hit) can make Samus invisible.
