Look I have visited family farms and factory farms. There great places most of the time. But sometimes this is what happens. Its not really this bad. These are the WORST conditions. I'm sorry man but you should just stop eatting meat. Organic is the way to go. Maybe ask a hunter for some deer meat or buy some. I really only eat organic meat or hunted meat. I try not to eat factory meat because I do know that in some places this really happens.

plenty of food out there to feed the hungry people of the word and the animals that inhabit it. However; we choose to ignore this fact by supporting the industry that uses the majority of this potential food.

our meat intake by 10%, enough land would be free to grow enough food for every person in the world. This is because it takes much more land, grain, and water to sustain someone with a meat-eating diet rather than a vegetarian. 70% of US grain is used for the production of livestock. This grain could be used to feed the people of the world; not just greedy Americans. Consider this. The land used to feed one non-vegetarian is enough to sustain about 20 vegetarians. There is (continued)

IronArcher - Just because our anatomy allows us to do something doesn't mean we should. We can spit; but why can't we spit on people? We can hit; but why can't we hit? It is because, for the most part, we know better. It is true that there are millions of starving people in the world; but, however, consuming meat will not fix this issue. If the world were to turn vegetarian, hypothetically world hunger would cease. The US Department of Agriculture states that if America reduced (continued)

Think about this: We have teeth developed to eat meat. secondly Even now there is too little of food. If we all start eatig vegetables, we will eat all the food of the animals. The animals will die of starvation. We will die of starvation ... I'm not anti-veganor anything .. but if i respect your choice, the least you can do is respect mine. btw, under NORMAL circomstances (=non-american) animals are respected and not cruelly killed.

sophilosophie - That is so fantastic. Congratulations! Out of curiousity, have you ever seen Earthlings? It's, by far, my favorite video dedicated to animals.

I like veggies and meat too. Animals are not people, there are people suffering too in the whole world. And meat can save them.

That's so cool i feel like not eating meat but i still have turkey left over. being vegetarian is hard. at least for me it is i tried many times but didn't last long. i'm not disciplined enough i guess. we really don't need meat to live that's the truth i'll replace meat with beans! right after the turkey is done don't want it to go to waste. -Jacob

chernamin - I would like to ask you something. If you dislike these farmers, why do you consume their meat and support them?
By: meggaliciouss. on 01 Dec 08, 22:59:01
chernamin - That's quite an intelligent remark. Are you old enough to be on this site? Yes, I do believe that there is not enough care going into these animals. It's irrational to believe that they all can recieve the care they require. I also think they should have only enough animals that they're able to care for. That is why I advocate family farms. The majority have a humane outlook on their animals.

This is torture happening right now to millions of animals and many more are being breed by the millions just to be born into this torture just for money.. help put a dent in this sick fucks pocket so they cant afford to continue this. GO VEGGGGG. YOU WILL LIVE GUILT FREE AND HEALTHY. MURDER ISNT TASTY AT ALL.
By: chernamin. on 01 Dec 08, 22:40:12
wow your a fag... this isnt about whether you eat meat or not, this about how the animals are treated before they are slaughtered. Also, the farmers are giving us meat from diseassed cows, and we will end up getting sick. I eat meat, i dislike these farmers very much. God wouldn't want us to torture other living things that he created.
By: chernamin. on 01 Dec 08, 22:35:43
first off you dont have to write a fucking essay lol. second you are basically saying that the farmers have too many animals than they can care for, so why dont they just have only enough animals that they can care for properly without abusing them? 62% of us are overweight. they are greedy sick bastards. also, even if they have too many to care for THAT DOESNT MEAN THEY CAN'T PUT THEM OUT OF THEIR MISERY BEFORE THEY TORTURE THEM MORE, THEY DONT HAVE TO DO ALL THIS TO THEM WHILE THEY ARE ALIVE

ilovestarwars - Please check a few pages back for my passage from Genesis. In the scripture, it actually says that "God said, 'I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food..." Perhaps being vegetarian won't change everyone, but it is better to be part of the solution, not the problem. "Never doubt that a small group of people can't change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

DuckAttack is completely right. 100 years ago, slavery and color discrimination was accepted. If someone stood up for their beliefs that slavery and discrimination were wrong, they might have used the same argument as you: society says that it is accepted. Now it is time for the animals to have society on their side. Surely, they are unable to do it themselves.
By: meggaliciouss. on 01 Dec 08, 20:50:56
family farms that, indeed, are not very humane; but the joy with family farms is that the majority allow you to visit. You can see where the food comes from before purchase.

If you can tell me that an industry that cares for 8-10 billion animals each year can provide for each and every animal, I do not think you are as knowledgeable as you made yourself out to be. How can they possibly sustain the dietary needs of each and every animal? It isn't logical to believe such a thing. If you would like to protect your claim, please provide me a few sources of evidence that show that factory farmed animals are healthy and are fed better. There may be some (continued)
By: meggaliciouss. on 01 Dec 08, 20:42:21
(continued) that means that some hold the choice to not eat animals (since not all animals do), while others are free to. I'm fine with that. In a perfect world, everyone would be vegetarian; but also in a perfect world women would have equal rights to men. These things don't always happen. However; as we observe from our carnivorous brethren, they do not enslave their prey before death. We humans do in the factory farming world.
By: meggaliciouss. on 01 Dec 08, 20:40:24
Alright. Let's both say we believe humans and animals are at the same level as animals. First we must observe that not all animals eat other animals. On the flip side, there are animals out there who eat other animals. You are suggesting that I am for the complete eradication of consuming animals. I have said multiple times that I find no harm in the consumption of animals if that animal didn't live an enslaved, torturous life. If you wish to say that we are equal to animals, (continued)

society changes. racism and discrimination against women were widely accepted. but people got smart and realized that it was WRONG. how? because people brought it to their attention and advocated it. that's exactly what's going on here.
By: meggaliciouss. on 01 Dec 08, 20:33:54
You are right; cows are, for the most part, deemed domesticated. Life on a farm is appropriate; but not a factory farm. Factory farms, as we discussed earlier, do not meet the social, mental, veterinary, dietary, and physical needs a cow requires to be happy. They are corporations that view their animals are 'products' rather than living things and are treated as such. I have absolutely no issue with cows living on a farm where all their needs are met.

waterman - I'm sure we can both agree that the majority of raw meats are not very satisfying to hunger. Also, I always wonder one thing when people talk about cooking meats. Granted, there are a lot of meats that we can sparingly eat raw; but if we are 'meat eaters', shouldn't our bodies be able to handle the bacteria/disease that can often be found in raw meat? Why must we cook it out if our bodies are designed to handle all raw meats?

Ok, for argument sake I entertained your views that god exists, but now your just making shit up. What exactly are the other reasons for those animals on earth?? We sure do have free will to rape and murder, but thats different. Thats a society issue. We (as a society) have deemed that rape and murder are wrong and not allowed, and in order to be part of that society, you must play by the rules. Eating meat is widely accepted by more than the majority as OK!!!
