This is one of my favorite overtures. I don't know how Levine does it, but he sure does get great results from the opera orchestra. The whole /morale/ of an orchestra seems to be really good whenever Levine is at the helm.

It´s about the attitude of this Baroque players this day. They think they discovered something new. That Mozart was never right, until they were born. Actually they are very arrogant. But you are just a little girl. You don´t understand anything. Not even that most of the Baroque guys are Amateurs. Probably you are too. So don´t answer if nobody asked for your opinion. I know what I talk about. You just a big blablabla

lolmanerik, I adore Mozart and baroque too, but what you say is not correct, a music lover would not talk like that. Baroque has also drama, feelings, pain... if you say it has not, it's just because you don't know. Listen to Bach's work, Vivaldi (my video)... regards

lolmanerik is so right!
By: KarlAmade. on 12 Oct 08, 14:18:13
hahaha, I'm also a modernist... perhaps that's the magic thing?;P
By: lolmanerik. on 12 Oct 08, 10:58:36
you are honest. I understand your point. You are maybe the first periodic musician I listen to. Wish you all the best for your Doctor Degree!
By: KarlAmade. on 12 Oct 08, 10:35:19
I see your point with these elements, I feel them too. And I will assure you that any periodic performance of this won't make such a character as some modern performance. But as a periodic musician, also as a student taking doctor grade in music history, I as many others seek to hear it as near as the original performance was played back in 1787.
By: lolmanerik. on 12 Oct 08, 05:37:37
so tell me a great periodic performance. I will buy it. Will it have all the drama, pain, happiness, suffering, deepness, richness? If yes,u r really so clever as you pretend to be. So U have lived in the late 1800s I guess. Nice
By: KarlAmade. on 05 Oct 08, 18:38:46
well... No, that's OK for me^^
By: doctormantell. on 05 Oct 08, 14:16:40
I completely agree. And I'll sacrifice his rotten bones in front of the door of vivaldi's house in venice. So the Erinni of the baroque will be satisfied. OR do you prefer another place?
By: KarlAmade. on 05 Oct 08, 14:14:00
I see your point very well, And don't believe I didn't have wrath when I read his comment :P Hehe, in fact; I was infuriated beyond measure. But instead of creating a gigantic fight I chose not to^^ If he sends an other comment of same disgusting caliber, let us burn him to ashes on the fire, Deal?
By: doctormantell. on 05 Oct 08, 12:27:11
mr. amade, ok, wrath is not a good choice, but this moron should be persuaded of his nothingness!
By: doctormantell. on 05 Oct 08, 12:26:31
yes, you're right. in fact, in mozart you find vivaldi, haendel, bach, pergolesi, jommelli, gluck, traetta, salieri, piccinni, sacchini... a genius of collection. ooops! these I remembered are your baroque idiots, aren't they? ah, you are ill-mannered.
By: KarlAmade. on 28 Sep 08, 21:01:44
Govern your tongue, please=P I love both periodic and modern performances, especially when great differences occurs. Personally, I'm a periodic performer. But honestly, I'm not gay, dear fellow, hehe. I love Levine, and I wish he one day could conduct a periodic ensembl, just for the excitement. The fact is perhaps a pain for you, but in Mozart's time, the baroque style was still the modern way to play and perform. It ended in the late 1800s and early 1900s. If i didn't persuade... I love Mars=)
By: lolmanerik. on 19 Sep 08, 15:49:34
wow. all you gay baroque idiots out there. listen. listen the drama. the pain. the hope. the love. the genius and the greatness of mozart if played like under levine. die fuckin norrington. you guys are like the dirt in music world. if there would be war against you wannabe baroque idiots. I would put a big rocket in your asses and send you right away to Mars.

This is outstanding...I live for the moments I get to hear performances at the MET...the orchestra is absolutely first rate...as anyone who has ever played in an orchestra knows, the bulk of the work is accomplished in the rehearsal...that is where the conductor earns his/her keep....the performance is just the icing on the cake.

Technically they're eighth notes but, since the faster part is "in 1", they sound like sixteenth notes.
