Isn't it strange how the tit for tat killings almost never happen, how when the 0.5 million outside the home self defence uses of firearms every year (if you go with the low estimate) they don't end up being retaliated against - even when the attacker was killed. You need to make a distinction between legitimate use of firearms in self defence, and criminal use of guns between gangs and other criminally minded individuals. The point is, in real life he would have every right to defend himself.
