I would definitely agree. While it may be easier to get into this technology for people that have never used computers or are older(like older parents, grandparents, immigrants), but for the classic mouse user many things would be harder virtually impossible like gaming. A RTS could be easily played on this, but not a FPS.

I agree; this is an important step in the right direction for "Human Interface Devices." I wouldn't say it's more complicated than a mouse by any means, but I also think it will be quite some time (if ever) before this technology will "replace" mice. There are plenty of things you can do with a mouse that you couldn't easily do with touch. (Gaming, for instance.)

Could he add texture to it? I mean it would be very difficult to control such things on the screen without the conventional sense of frictional touch on it. You will have to depend totally on your vision to determine whether you have "grab" a hold of things successfully, which puts a great burden on the eyes. You may went tired easily by over-burdening your visual centers of the brain too much.

I like this stuff a lot, I have had it on my iPhone for more than a year. It's not really "tech" though, it's just a technique of doing the same thing people have been doing for a long time. By the way, the keyboard isn't going to be killed by this kind of thing. Lack of feedback makes any on-screen keyboard useless for any serious typing.

Nice idea I guess, but can't help wondering if they'd get better value out of old hardware with newer software. I mean, I've seen a Commodore C64 web browser, even an Apple II! My point is that people (and industry) are throwing away P3 Laptops as obsolete. A P3 with 256 Meg RAM is a capable machine running a stripped down Linux Distro, something like on the EEE Xandros or Linpus Lite, or even Sugar! If it's all about the money, then why new hardware? Not sure it was the best option.

Two remarks: (1) There is a new live CD to test Sugar (the GUI) on your personal computer. It's done by Wolfgang Rohrmoser and to be found at laptop-dot-org wiki. (2) Of course the GUI is unfamiliar to us, as it breaks with the arbitrary tradition to copy the nomenclatura and structure of office contexts: File, folder, programme: School kids aged 6 shouldn't care about bureau stuff to handle a computer. I think this is a great project but I've never liked the idea of interacting with this kind of technology without some kind of physical interaction. I would like to see this idea with some kind of glass screen so you were manipulating the digital content on a glass plate but the audience could still see the presenter.

hey, thanks. it is not perfect, but it is pretty cool. it is running in an openGL application that we wrote. it can do scaling, annotation, rotation, etc on videos and photos, has google earth hooks (ill show you on the next video), can do teleconferencing and plays video games. its currently running on a quad core xeon, 4gb ram and dual 128gb solid state drives. the display is a musion screen. pretty simple actually, it is just the interface that is unique here.

This is done for casual users in public spaces, where interaction is rather short (seconds? a few minutes?)... The key in such situations is the intuitiveness of interaction, and its capability of catching people attention. Based on computer vision.

Both phones are great, tough I don't have any off them, but I would rather prefer Touchwiz when it comes to camrea, cuz the camera is more protected, than on the Viewty. But what I like about LG's Viewty is the big screen, the menus, and how you wright messages on it. But I would go to the store, and try bot of them out, see how they work in your hand and so on. And compare the spesifications. But when it comes down to it, it more about taste and you you want the most=)

I DID MY HOMEWORK ON THIS PHONE. It is a good touch screen phone. Nice keypad, excellent camera and flash. Only down side are that it is not Apple Mac compatible except for bluetooth. Hopefully Samsung will correct this with its future phones. Overall a nice Camera-Phone and not a bad alternative to the iPhone. WELL DONE SAMSUNG!

ipod touch is a little smaller, it weights actually quite a bitt less and it got much more battery time. It also has a LITTLE bit faster internett. and best of all, you can get ipod touch in 32gig that means alot of hours with porn

I love both of them but i don't really like iphone as a phone.
