The Best Free Adobe AIR Apps

Video duration: 731 seconds
Global video hits: 66460
http://live.pirillo. com - Adobe AIR is Adobe's entry into the field of widgets. It's a better idea than just something on your desktop. Developers are able to create a potentially rich experience, and have it run cross-platform. Even though I think the whole Adobe AIR platform is quite ready yet, some of the apps that are available are truly getting there.

As someone who felt he was slighted by Windows Vista, I couldn't stay quiet. Microsoft has lost the community. I am trying to help, in whatever way I can.

http://live.pirillo. com - Are you a Linux fan? I know my System Administrator Allan would yell to forget Linux, and use FreeBSD. This isn't a FreeBSD conversation, though, it's an Ubuntu one. But it's just funny that Allan came to mind here, since today at work in Canada, he was recognized by someone for being part of my live show.

who that hell uses midi today in a regular basis or in a computer, this guy is a midi nuts in a world of mp3s and technology advances.. MY LORD!!!
By: eleven38. on 19 Oct 08, 13:19:59
now we can see how shit midi is instead of just hearing how bad it is, chesse to the max, midi is only useful for scavaging notes from songs.
By: suezannec. on 26 Sep 08, 02:05:55
I was listening to an Emerson Lake and Palmer midi file, after listening to the real thing, and looking for an orchestral version of Karn Evil 9. That got me thinking about midi visualizations and the programs that convert whistling and humming into midi files and music notation. Nice video Chris, the Midi Jam program looks very interesting. I find it amusing that people knock midi when so much of what we listen to on mp3's etc. these days is played on midi instruments.
By: zamil25. on 15 Sep 08, 10:17:10
What a fool. MIDI is very complex. You don't know what you are talking about. Midi is just as complex as wave. Midi can be tweaked with out damaging the sound quality. Wave, on the other hand cannot. Midi notes are either from synths or sampled from real instruments or voices. Educate your self before you start talking. Damn, you even look annoying.
By: Iris19861. on 07 Sep 08, 20:40:18
Start using soundfonts. Buy an old creative Live! or audigy card (with EMU10K1 soundprocessor), load it with soundfonts (I recommend Merlin and Airfont340) and have your MIDI-files really come alive. Sounds much better then Midijam and a hell of a lot better thant the standard Windows GM-mapping.
By: looseskrewz. on 05 Sep 08, 04:00:41
Midi songs suck major ass. If you want real computer generated songs look up the commodore 64 SID songs...now that's amazing stuff from the early 80's.

If it weren't for midi files they never would have gotten to mp3s.

You Midi hater suck. There's no reason to hate them. There are possibly a lot of benefits to them. If you don't like them don't use them. Don't hate.

By: snrbaires. on 25 Aug 08, 18:59:53
I absolutely love MIDI too provided it flows through a "physical" midi sequencer/synthesizer. Still not a fan of softsynths running on pc's (mac's). The "hardware" engineers who devised the specification decades back were dealing with a wire which had a narrow bandwidth so file size had to kept to a minimum. MIDI can be used to control many studio audio recorders & stage lighting systems.

By: booh666. on 17 Aug 08, 18:38:55
No big deal.... you can pretty easily create that kind of application with sodtware like max/msp and jitter. Looks pretty cool, though. And by the way, midi can be use to create much more complex music, using real orchestral samples for example.
