I'd say it depends on what you are looking for. cheap home use laptop or during transport like a train i'd say Asus EEE. but if you are going camping and needs some thing a bit more rugged then the OLPC. that is what I think after what I have seen

I'm using opera on my olpc right now, and it kicks ass! I never appreciated opera until I was forced to use it. Sugar, the OLPC interface, is really cool and probably perfect for someone who has never used a computer before, but opera adds enough elements of a traditional OS to my XO that I can really use it in most cases to replace my normal Ubuntu desktop.

Du kennst mich doch garnicht, werd erstmal selber erwachsen, ich bin es schon! Meine ganze Fam. kommt aus Polen und ich bin jedes Jahr knapp zwei Monate drüben und hab dort auch Freunde. Von Stadt bis Dorf hab ich dort schon alles abgeklappert und weiß was dort los ist. Meine Eltern lebten 25 Jahre in Polen und nun 20 in Deutschland und ich denke dass man nach knapp 50 Jahren schon ein Fazit ziehen kann. Na klar lässt er dich schuften, dafür bist du ja auch eingestellt worden! Ohne dich müsste er das alles machen, das ist deutsche Effizienz, man schaut wer die eigene Arbeit günstiger machen kann, klärt ab ob das funktioniert und lässt andere für sich Arbeiten und verdient damit noch Geld. So läuft das eben hier, wenn es dir nicht gefällt, kannst du ja auch einen Job in Polen antreten, ich gaube die zahlen da noch schlechter als hier.

zu tomelino , du bist zwar pole, aber da du seit dem ersten lebensjahr in deutschland lebst hast du von polen nicht sehr viel mitbekommen... ich bin auch pole und ich hab ziemlich viel länger in polen gelebt und habe auch hier in deutschland gearbeitet , zwar als maurer aber trozdem... man merkt sofort, das die deutschen einfach fauler sind da mein meister mich die ganze arbeit machen lassen hat und er dabei nur gechillt hat.. polen gehen einfach effizienter an die arbeit ran.

Polnische und Deutsche Handwerker sind beide unfähig! Die bauen beide den selben Scheiß mit dem Unterschied dass es bei den Polen etwas günstiger ist. Das Polen rassisten sind stimmt nicht, sie haben speziell etwas gegen Deutsche. Das hat u.a noch etwas mit dem zweiten Weltkrieg und der teilweise bescheuerten Mentalität zutun. Bin selbst Pole und lebe seit dem ersten Lebensjahr in Deutschland. Man muss beide Seiten sehr gut kennen, dann sieht man dass keine von beiden wirklich besser ist!

yeah that is a good idea too alot of people. i havent taken a look at virtualDub but i can figure it out. but if you make a video then you will make my life easier and give me a lot of help and hints

how do you shrink the file so it will fit on youtube. my video is only about 5 minutes long and yet it is 1.1 GB. youtube only lets you have 1 GB videos.

Very nice. I'd like to say that even this short 5 and a half minute mini-tutorial was enough to get me started with Premiere. The biggest problem I had was with the way Premiere interlaced my video when I tried to export the final cut. Thankfully 6 hours of playing around I discovered that exporting it uncompressed (along with other tweaks) then converting the video in VirtualDub gave me perfect quality and a small file size at 1440p. Thanks for this tutorial.

I share your frustration with all the file types. Anyway... you'd have HD with your original file if you're working with HD footage and editing-software. But YouTube will convert your original to their format (Flash, I believe) when you upload the original. That "Watch In High Quality" option is usually available, but it can depend on your system. Check out YouTube's Help pages for more info on this topic... and file types, and best settings for uploading, etc.

There are a lot more "advanced features" with Premiere. Visit Adobe's Premiere pages for tours and tutorials of those features. And you can accomplish those effects you mentioned with the Keying Effects (blue screen, superimposing, mattes, etc.). See my "Chroma Key" clip to get an idea.

I haven't tried Cyberlink, just read about it. But it sounds like a good program. Might be all you need, but Premiere Pro has a lot more advanced features (which accounts for the difference in price).
