What they forgot to include in this theory was the strength of gravity and the pressure and heat that it freely creates. That is why our sun will never die. Our sun will never cool. It is not on fire either. A fire needs oxygen to burn. There is no oxygen on the sun, it is not on fire. A very big misconception.

The sun has only used up roughly 2% of it's energy in the trillions upon quadrillions of years it's been alive. It's gonna be a L-O-N-G time before our sun collapses into a smaller, white dwarf.

Also, the corona of the sun is 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 k because they are 1/1,000,000,000 density of the earth's atmosphere. The poor guys are getting bombarded by HUGE amounts of radiation. The reason they are hot is not because of thermal energy, it's radiation.

@rubberdown1969: And REALLY dude, think about this. 1) Gravity would have imploded our sun a LONG time ago. You need the extreme energy created by fusion in order to balance the inward pressure of the sun due to gravity. 2) Stefan Boltzman Laws work BECAUSE they depend on fusion. Hotter suns create higher frequency photons & more of them. 3) Black body radiation would not work if energy was coming from the outside. 4)E=mc^2 - sun is loosing mass as it creates energy

Sun spots are created due to the instability of the magnetic fields of the sun. Every 11 years the sun changes polarities - during this change (at the solar maximum) the magnetic field becomes erratic, creating sun spots (which are actually magnetic "loops" going through the photosphere) I will agree that we do not understand 100% of the sun, but saying energy comes from outside the sun just doesn't make any sense. It REALLY doesn't.

NO, simply NOT correct. Neutrinos: Neutrinos prove the fusion reactions in the sun. That's why we KNOW that there are fusion reactions. Neutrinos are produced from fusion, at first we didn't understand why we only received only 1/3, but eventually we realized that they changed color.
