Therefore, say no to genetically contrived foods, it is not only highly unhealthy, but is causing massive food shortages. If the government realizes their error and they go back to stopping the manufacture of terminator seeds, there may be a chance. No, genetic seed manipulation has caused the food shortage. Seeds from all plant life and strains have been contained and propogated for over 10,000 years and managed just fine. Now the government controls all and over course of time have created seeds (terminator seeds) that do not propogate after one year, thus leaving farmers with no way to replant on their own. Then, cross pollination into healthy fields creates terminator seeds. Sometimes science should leave things alone!

I've eaten here before and it was THE best restaurant I've ever eaten at. The ribs I had were amazing(St. Louis ribs), the cornbread was amazing, and the peach cobbler was the best I've ever eaten. Even the fries were great! I thought I wouldn't really like it, but it is really really great. I can't wait to go again.

I have to say, I have watched this show faithfully. However, after a visit to Smoque, I doubt I will tune in as often as I have. We ordered the St Louis & the brisket. Sadly to say, we were disappointed by both. It was unbelievably dry & the 'carolina' sauce is not what I'm used to (vinegar based). The best thing on my plate was the coleslaw...which for a bbq joint shouldn't be the selling point.

First off, no one "recommended" feed grain. It was made VERY clear that it was a personal decision as to what to pack. Also, this wheat WAS double cleaned. Bay leaves don't work, trust me, I've opened MANY a bucket of grits, pancake mix, etc. that had bay leaves (lots of them) in there AND weevils. Some "riding" on the bay leaves like it was the Love boat or something!! ALL grains, including those sold directly for human use is exposed to ALL the things you mention. Watch the "Results" videos.

I wouldn't recommend feed grain as it is not cleaned as properly as food grade. Mouse urine, insects & higher moisture content can ruin the whole deal. Wheat grains need to be high protein grade, be double or triple cleaned, & dried. High protein wheat will ensure proper rising when baking. Insert a bay leaf or two(to ward off insects) & 2 oxygen aborbers added to the mylar bags. I even use a food saver to suck air from the bags. I use a Nutrimill grain mill to turn the wheat into flour.

This is going to sound awful but as a constant source of meat consider buying two sets of male and female rabbits. When the going gets tough and food becomes scarce, allow them to breed and eat the offspring. We have three rabbits, 2 female 1 male and are about to get another male. It sounds horrid I know, but if your'e feeding them yourself (part of our garden crop's specifically for keeping them fed & healthy) then u know the meat's clean, GE free & they r a low maintanence high yield "crop".

Great video! I love the self reliant way you do your food storage. I keep got a year of food stored but I've just thrown money at the problem and bought pre-packed wheat, rice and bean buckets from a survival store. They don't use the mylar bags but they do use oxy absorbers and you can hear them "woosh" when you open them so they must be sealing. I own a condo so I don't have room for longterm storage, so I just keep a 1 year inventory and eat what I store, using the oldest buckets first

I get your point -- hopefully cattle could be selected (read human driven "natural selection") for enhanced immune system to allow for healthy corn consumption, which would ween them off antibiotics and hence the concern for our health (in increasingly more resistant bacteria)... With that said, humans were never meant to consume dairy beyond a certain age (much less from a cow), but we've recently grown out of that via natural selection.

Economists would call the government subsidies on goods with negative externalities "perverse subsidies": subsidies that make a bad situation worse by encouraging even more consumption of a harmful product than there would be otherwise.

And it's impossible to choose some things, such as grass fed beef instead of corn (or worse) fed. 1. Great video. The issue they started off with, government agricultural subsidies, is an enormous problem. Agriculture is supposed to be one of the best examples of perfect competition in a free market--the result of which is an optimal outcome, maximizing everyone's benefit. But in this case, the government seriously screws up the free market with policies that are completely contrary to economic principles, screwing up your health as well.

Your absolutely right. Finding foods with out MSG can be a challenge sometimes, especially salad dressings. For the longest time I kept getting sick everytime I ordered Chinese take out. Why? IT WAS LOADED WITH MSG. Now I order the same dish only with a white sauce (no MSG) and I feel fine...granted it is chinese take out, so I'm not going to feel so hot regardless.

Given the USA has an obesity-diabetes epidemic a food shortage has a silver lining. Meanwhile stop using arable land for biofuels - food is more important than driving your obese SUV to the supermarket! Save oil by increasing public transport, mandating fuel efficient cars, tax petrol more to subsidise public transport and plug-in hybrid conversions.
