Do you have any bits for sale from your previous setup? All I want to do is power the X axis,I'm a manual machinist,I have used CNC on and off over the years and still find it takes about 5 times longer than to do it manually,CNC is fine for production runs etc where it does vastly cut the time and cost down but for one off and home stuff it just takes too long.

The Xylotex is Ok, but it's really easy to fry. Destroying something so expensive in such an easy manner is never a good thing. Gecko sells a driver that can't be fried. The G203V is fitted with a fuse which protects it from power variations that would cook the Xylotex instantly. It's idiot proof and only slightly more expensive than the Xylotex when reliability is factored in.

This machine is now fitted with the complete Xylotex kit but i was not able to purchase direct as they will not send to Europe because the solder is not rohm compliant because it is not lead free, so that was a pain..

this controller is so much better than the first controller that i purchased which turned out to be a total waste of time. This was my very first run of the machine. The controller runs nice and cool its fan cooled

Yes been very impressed with the Xylotex controller, in the video i mention the Y axis keys being reverse to what i would like, thats lack of experience with the program ive now switched the hot keys over

yes while filming the video i was trying to remember which was which :) the other steppers that i have are 8 wire and ive configured them for unipolar operation...
By: PixelPi. on 18 Nov 07, 08:24:02
Did some researching, the Xylotex's are bipolar... All 4 wire steppers are for bipolar operation only. The reason for this is that the 2 coils inside the motor do not have center taps. 5, 6, and 8 wire steppers can be run in bipolar OR unipolar mode, because the coils have extra center taps. stepperworld (dot) com/Tutorials/pgBipolarTutorial (dot) htm

How well do you like the Xylotex? Did you buy the whole Xylotex kit, or just the controller? I just ordered an X2 and the CNCfusion kit #4. I'm not sure what to do for the motors and controller though. Also, did you get the rotary table working yet and where did you get it?
