"Christmas Wishes" Home Viewer Showcase
Posted by: palmercomm
Video duration: 291 seconds
From late 1985. Johnny Olson had died by this time, so Mark Goodson had to look for a new announcer. In the mean time, Gene Wood decided to announce for a while.
In this home viewer showcase (mostly consisting of cars of all sizes), Gene plays Santa. And some lucky person sure found a lot under their Christmas tree!

Alexis vs. Jaden (with Musical Guest Leona Lewis)
Posted by: palmercomm
Video duration: 244 seconds
Simon Cowell found his own Idol with Leona Lewis. Her breakout single is hot, hot, hot! What better way to use this song than with CyberBlader2006's coverage of the intense duel between Jaden Yuki and a very confused Alexis Rhodes.
Song: "Bleeding Love"
Artist: Leona Lewis
Anime: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
I hope you like it. Please comment. Thanks!

OK, I found the Season 4 opening credits from the original "90210" and added the theme from the new "90210". They seem to match very well.

Do You Believe In Love?
Posted by: palmercomm
Video duration: 207 seconds
Yes, this is another Digimon AMV. This time, it's JP and Zoe (with the other "Digi-Rangers" included).
"Digi-Rangers"? Well, they weren't exactly Tamers. They morphed into their Digimon.
I used a different video converter, so it isn't perfect. You have to take what you can get.

Ford 1991- "Everything We Do Is Driven By You"
Posted by: palmercomm
Video duration: 96 seconds
This seems to suggest that Ford was borrowing from a Bryan Adams song from around the same year.
However, it isn't. It's based on a Brian May song.
I don't own this video. Got it from TV Ark.

"Self Control" has that urban ninja feel, much like the Kakurangers. This song could've been used in many battle scenes.

We Didn't Start the Fire ("Wheel of Fortune" Edition)
Posted by: palmercomm
Video duration: 262 seconds
The video that inspired this response had a song that was supposedly inspired by Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire". Well, here's what the video would look like if they had used the original song.
From the 1990 Logie Awards (that's the Aussie answer to the Emmys). Enjoy and please comment!

I like Gene, too. I also like Bob Hilton, who would've been the new announcer had he not hosted that failed pilot "Bamboozle".

What if for a current TPIR Christmas episode current TPIR announcer Rich Fields plays Santa and then Drew Carey pulls the Santa beard to find out if it is really Rich Fields in disguise?
By: Italianlover07. on 04 Sep 08, 18:26:27
I said Gene wasn't right for the show, because he was slow in his intro.
By: RedNekLvr22. on 17 Aug 08, 22:29:00
Well, I do think Gene did a wonderful job on this, but I must admit, Rod, I think, was the right choice. But, Gene would have performed wonderfully in his own right.
By: gameshowguy2000. on 14 Aug 08, 15:59:58
Yeah, but Feud ended in 1985, and he was one of the sub-announcers before Rod was chosen.
By: palmercomm. on 14 Aug 08, 15:52:14
Probably too busy with Feud in 1985, and retired in 2004.
By: gameshowguy2000. on 13 Aug 08, 05:45:54
Gene sure had a good voice..I don't see why he couldn't make it to permanent announcer on TPIR before kicking the bucket 4 years ago (he, like Olson, was a Goodson-Todman mainstay).

Any idea what the actual retail price of that showcase was? I'm guessing between $55-60k?
