That Ushiro Geri kick was amazing. I wish he'd do that more often. The only reason he can't land it more often is cause he doesn't practice it that much

Yeah that's true. In fact, he's known to smack people in public upon request.

Incorrect, Japanese tradition. Also, Lyoto's intro wasn't the Muay Thai Wai Khru. There was no Ram Muay, no Panom Muae Wai and he wasn't wearing a Mongkon. Maybe it was a spoof of Wai Khru Ram Muay but I think it has more to do with his Brazilian heritage if anything really.

Correct, Muay Thai Tradition. Also with that little ritual-like intro with Lyoto

That's Antonio Inoki, a pro wrestler, Japanese MMA pioneer and Lyoto's former promoter. That punch is the Toukon "Fighting spirit" punch, seen as a honorable symbol in Japan. Or so I've heard.

Why was the winner punched in the end? Who was the guy? Coach?

By: SuperJesus316. on 02 Jun 08, 15:45:29
No, that was the "Fighting spirit" slap.. or "Toukon" slap. It's seen as an honorable slap.
By: mbsbrito. on 02 Jun 08, 00:54:41
Of course it is just showmanship... I was talking about what was his excuse to do so.
By: maofas. on 02 Jun 08, 00:18:31
It's just showmanship; he's a legendary pro/catch wrestler in japan. He was originally trying to get younger lyoto to do prowrestling.
